Active Body Acne
Blocked pores, excess sebum, sweat, friction, and inflammation commonly contribute to breakouts on the back, chest, and shoulders.
Body Acne & Resurfacing · Melbourne & Canberra
Acne on the back, chest, and shoulders — together with the post-inflammatory marks, enlarged pores, and textural changes it can leave behind — is one of the most common body skin concerns we see. Our approach combines congestion management, acne control, and skin resurfacing treatments to improve both active breakouts and the visible legacy they leave on the skin.
Acne first. Resurfacing second.
Active body acne and post-acne texture often need different treatment stages. Your practitioner will assess whether to begin with congestion and inflammation, or move into resurfacing.
Understanding the Concern
Blocked pores, excess sebum, sweat, friction, and inflammation commonly contribute to breakouts on the back, chest, and shoulders.
Red, brown, or persistent discolouration often remains after active breakouts have settled — particularly on thicker body skin.
Repeated inflammation may contribute to enlarged pores, uneven texture, and atrophic scarring that persists long after acne improves.
What Our Clients Present With
Recurring inflammatory breakouts affecting the back and shoulders.
Acne and congestion affecting the chest and décolletage region.
Persistent redness, pigmentation, and visible marks after breakouts.
Enlarged pores, uneven texture, and post-acne skin irregularities.
Treatments for This Concern
Congestion management
HydraFacial may support body skin congestion by cleansing, exfoliating, extracting and hydrating in a single structured session. It is generally considered for oily, congested areas where active inflammation is mild.
Active inflammation
Alma Harmony Acne may be considered for selected active inflammatory body breakouts after practitioner assessment. It is most relevant when inflammation, redness and breakout activity are still present.
Body resurfacing
Venus Viva uses NanoFractional RF technology for surface-focused resurfacing. It may support post-acne texture, enlarged pores and superficial scarring once active breakouts are controlled.
Texture & scars
Microneedling creates controlled micro-channels to support collagen remodelling and targeted active delivery. It is most often considered for post-acne texture and body acne scarring after active inflammation is controlled.

A Staged Approach
Stage 1
HydraFacial + Alma Harmony Acne
The first stage focuses on reducing congestion, managing breakout activity and supporting the body skin environment before deeper resurfacing is considered.
Stage 2
Alma Harmony Acne
Once active breakouts are being managed, selected light-based treatment may support inflammation and the visible marks associated with body acne.
Stage 3
Venus Viva + Microneedling
When active inflammation has settled, resurfacing pathways may be considered for enlarged pores, uneven texture and selected body acne scarring.
Is It Right For You?
FAQ
Severe, infected, cystic or rapidly worsening acne may require medical assessment before cosmetic treatment is considered. These pathways are generally used for selected active acne, congestion, post-acne marks and texture after suitability is confirmed.
Clients using isotretinoin or recently finished isotretinoin must tell their practitioner. Resurfacing treatments may need to be delayed, and suitability depends on timing, skin condition and medical history.
Acne scar and texture treatment is usually considered once active inflammation is controlled. This helps reduce the risk of aggravating active breakouts and allows resurfacing to focus on the visible texture left behind.
Venus Viva is a NanoFractional RF resurfacing treatment focused on surface texture and pores. Microneedling creates controlled micro-channels and can be paired with targeted actives. Your practitioner will advise which pathway suits your skin.
The number of sessions depends on whether your primary concern is active acne, congestion, post-acne marks or scarring. Most body acne and resurfacing plans are staged, and your practitioner will recommend a plan at consultation.
